NON-NOTIFIABLE INFECTIOUS DISEASES AMONG THE
CHILDREN ATTENDING THE PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
Five thousand six hundred and eighty-four cases of those Infectious
Diseases which are not notifiable under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891,
were reported by the school teachers to the Medical Officer of Health, and of
these 1,375 were Measles, 949 Chicken Pox, 753 Whooping Cough, and 2,607
various other diseases.
The return contrasts with an average of 4,698 in the preceding 10 years,
of which 1,466 were Measles, 680 Chicken Pox, and 714 Whooping Cough,
while 1,838 related to various other infections.
The record for Measles was 91 less than the decennial average, while, on
the other hand, Chicken Pox showed an increase of 269 cases, Whooping Cough
of 39 cases, and other infections 769 cases.
