THE INFECTIOUS DISEASES IN THE PUBLIC ELEMENTARY
SCHOOLS.
One thousand three hundred and ninety-three cases of the notifiable
infectious diseases, or 47.3 per cent, of all the cases notified under the Public
Health (London) Act, 1891, occurred among the scholars attending the Public
Elementary Schools of the borough, of which 1,032 were Scarlet Fever, 350
Diphtheria and 11 Enteric Fever.
These contrast with a ten years' average of 835 scholars and a percentage
of 42.7 of the total cases notified.
