of Health to make certain enquiries of the Medical Officer of Health of the
London County Council, who informd him that it was common to London. It
would be unsafe to attribute any reason for this decrease.
Pulmonary Phthisis—960 cases were ascribed to Pulmonary Phthisis,
of which 567 were males and 393 females, while the attack rate was equal to
2.96 per 1,000 of the population.
The incidence of the disease was greatest in South East Islington, where
it was 3.84 per 1,000 of the population, and was nearly one per 1,000 higher
than the next highest attack rate, that of Tollington, where it was 2.99.
