Density of Population.—The number of people living on each acre of
the borough is 106, which is a greater number than is to be found in most
municipal boroughs in London or in the country. Indeed, in the latter there
is none with such a congested population, while in London there are only 7,
The density of population in the sub-registration districts ranges from 82
persons per acre in Tufnell, to 171 in Barnsbury; while in the wards the congestion
was as low as 82 in Tufnell (which ward is also a sub-registration
district) and as high as 195 in St. Peter's.
