Altogether 493 houses, apait from public institutions, were invaded, and
the cases were distributed as follows:—
1 case in each of 431 houses.

And in the public institutions there were:
2 in Cornwallis Workhouse.
7 in Islington Infirmary.
5 in Kingsdown Orphanage.
1 in London Fever Hospital.
Hospital Isolation.—526 of the 593 notified cases, or 88.7 per cent.,
were isolated in hospitals, of which 418 were taken to those of the Metropolitan
Asylums Boaro. This is a decrease of 4.3 per cent, on the return of the
preceding year.
Fatality.—The 53 deaths represented a fatality of 8.9 per cent, or 1.7
above the percentage which obtained in 1909 and 1910. It is, however, 1.3
below the rate of 10.2 which was recorded in the ten years 1901-10, and 12.6
below the rate of 216 recorded in the ten years 1891-1900. The great decrease
in the fatality is due mainly to the anti-toxin treatment.
