They are more important from their fatality than from their number, for
during last year while there were only 14 cases known there were 7 deaths.
Consequently 50 per cent, of the patients died. Such a fatality can only be
adequately described by one word—horrible. It is well, therefore, to keep
ever before us a statement of its behaviour in the borough.
