NON-NOTIFIABLE INFECTIOUS DISEASES AMONG CHILDREN
ATTENDING THE PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
As many as 6,077 cases of these diseases were notified, as contrasted with
a decennial average of 3,581. This is the largest number hitherto notified in
a single year, the nearest approach to it occurring in 1907, when 5,829
cases were notified.
The large jump from 4,605 in 1909 to 6,077 in the year under discussion
was almost entirely due to the epidemic of measles which was so prevalent
during the later months of the year, although a considerable part of the increase
was attributable to the prevalence of Chicken Pox. The particulars
respecting the number of cases since 1900 are as follows:—
