Other Diseases of the Respiratory System were credited with 13
deaths, or four less than the number recorded in 1909.
The following return, showing the deaths of infants among these diseases, is of interest:—

1st quarter | 9 | 42 | 51 |
2nd „ | 9 | 16 | 25 |

ALCOHOLISM.
Since 1907 there has been a considerable decrease in the number of
deaths ascribed to alcoholism, for in that year 28 deaths were registered,
whereas in 1910 there were only 11. In the intervening years, 1908 and 1909,
the figures were respectively 17 and 18.
The most gratifying feature of the return is that there has been a most
marked falling off in the deaths among females, for, whereas they numbered
18 in 1907, there were only 5 in 1910, and in the intervening years they
numbered respectively 9 and 6.
The number of deaths during each year since 1901 is as follows:—
Acute. | Chronic. | Total. | Males. | Females | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1901 | 27 | 27 | 7 | 20 | |
1902 | 9 | 29 | 38 | 20 | 18 |
