1,692 deaths were registered in the City during 1930. After
deducting 1,013 deaths of non.citizens in public institutions, etc., in
the City, and adding those of 799 citizens who died in other districts,
the corrected total is 1,478, as compared with 1,875 in 1929, and is
equivalent to an annual rate of 11.7 per 1,000 persons (civilian
population), compared with 14'8 last year.
The London death.rate for 1930 was 11.4 (civilians only), for England
and Wales, 11.4. These rates are much lower than in 1929 for Westminster
and the country as a whole. Among Westminster residents 426
deaths occurred during the first quarter of the year. The number of
deaths and the death.rates per 1,000 for the past fifteen years are shown
below:—
