The legitimate births show an increase of 12 and the illegitimate a
decrease of 1 on the figures of 1929. .
As shown in Table I, 1,653 notifications of births were received by
the Department for 1930 as compared with 1,532 in 1929. Of the total
of notifications, 972 were sent by midwives, of whom 30 were practising
in the City during 1930.
