The estimated net expenditure on the Dispensary Service for the 12
months ending March, 1924 is £1,778. For the three preceding years the
actual net expenditure was 1920-21, £2,122 ; 1921-22, £1,794 ; 1922-23,
£1,385 17s. 10d.
The total number of cases of tuberculous disease on the Register at the end of 1923 was 1,682 as compared with 1,589 at the end of the year 1922.

In addition to those who moved out of the City, 59 changed their
addresses in the City during the year, casuals not being included.
Home Visiting.—The Tuberculosis Medical Officer paid 436 visits
during the year to patients at their homes. The number of visits paid
in previous years was :—

The Health Visitors paid 5,412 visits, 4,717 of these being to persons
attending the Dispensary (in 1922, 5,278 and 4,995 respectively); 596
visits were paid to ex-service men.
Extra Nourishment.—Fifteen persons have been in receipt of milk and
eggs at the Council's expense on the recommendation of the Tuberculosis
Medical Officer. The applications were duly considered by the After
Care Committee. The cost of the extra nourishment was £49 7s. 5d.
Dental Treatment— Eleven patients received dental treatment at the
Council's expense, necessitating 62 attendances, at which 103 teeth were
extracted, 5 teeth filled and 60 other dental operations performed.
General anaesthetics were administered on 15 occasions. Two dentures
were provided and fitted. The Council contributed £3 towards the
cost.
Special Treatment.—Five patients had 54 pneumo-thorax refills at
a cost of £28 7s. and one patient had X-ray treatment at a cost of £1 5s.
