The notifications received numbered 1,327, in 19 instances twins were
mentioned. The number of notifications received from midwives was 943.
The number of still-births notified was 38, but information was received of 20 other confinements in which a dead child was born, 17 of these occurred in hospitals or infirmary ; 5 were illegitimate ; 5 sets of twins.

Maternity and Child Welfare.
There has been a marked increase during the year in the work in
connection with mothers and infant welfare. The Pimlico Road Centre
was found to be too far away for mothers from part of the arc attend,
and for some time past the Council had been endeavouring to find a
suitable house in the neighbourhood of Vau.xhall Bridge. Such a house
could not be found in the preceding year, but in 1920 they obtained
No. 15, Bessborough Street, and a fresh centre has been formed there and
a portion of the Pimlico area allotted to it. The result has fully justified
