Arrangements are made with the three local Nursing Associations
for nursing children in their homes ; 2,017 visits were paid to 159 sick
children.
Besides the visiting, numerous consultations with the Health Visitors
take place with mothers at each of the Centres. A very considerable
amount of clerical work has to be undertaken in keeping records of each
case, in correspondence with hospitals, bodies giving convalescent treatment,
War Pensions Committees, &c. For example, in cases of expected
confinements notified by hospitals, a report is sent giving information
as to the condition of the home, and other particulars. Special visits
were paid to children of deceased soldiers who were boarded out in
Westminster.
Infant consultations are held at each of the four Centres. At the
Rochester Row Centre the increase of work necessitated an additional
session being held each week. A similar state of affairs is now manifesting
itself at Bessborough Street, the average attendance being 45 at each
session.
