This was part of a consignment of French butter purchased by their clients under a warranty that it did not contain more than 16 per cent. of moisture. The firm from which Messrs. Hudson purchased the butter stated that owing to the exceptional heat at the time of the making of the butter in question and previously thereto the manufacturers of the butter in France had found it impossible to xtract surplus moisture from the butter as supplied by the farmers, as the machines in the factory for the purpose were ineffective owing to the softness of the butter.
