3,295 intimations of nuisances, &c., and 161 statutory notices were
issued; 2,168 letters were written, and 694 interviews took place at the
Office.

Police court proceedings for failure to comply with statutory notices were taken with the following results:—

Refusal to admit Inspector.—A magistrate's warrant had to be
obtained before the occupier of rooms in Dufour's Place would admit
the Inspector. The conditions found justified the application.
