Provision is also made by the Council whereby bacteriological
examination of sputum, &c., may be obtained by medical practitioners.
During the eighteen months ending 31st December, 1910, 767 cases
of tuberculosis, or of persons suspected to be suffering, have been visited
by the Society, 148 of these having been brought forward from the
previous period.

Seventy-six patients had had institutional or convalescent treatment
previous to the period now under review.
Twenty-six patients have been sent away by the City Council for
educational training, 25 to Maitland Sanatorium and one to the Eoyal
National Sanatorium, Bournemouth. 16 of these were men, 10 women,
