QUESTIONS—continued,.REPLIES—continued.
(4) The best means of indicating the names of thoroughfares, not only at the ends, but at the intersections of streets ?(4) By fixing name plates on the building at each angle of the street, and also transparent tablets on the gas lamps at the corners of the streets. (5) As to suggesting regulations for the further suppression of street cries, railway whistles, and other objectionable and unnecessary noises, within the County of London ?(5-9) We are of opinion that these are matters which more particularly concern the police, who ought to have authority to enforce such regulations as may be considered necessary.
(6) The question of better police regulations being made for the protection of the public while building operations contiguous to foot pavements are being carried on ?
(7) The question of police regula tions being made for the disuse of vans so constructed with blind hoods as to prevent drivers from seeing passing vehicles, to the common danger of vehicular traffic ?
(8) The practicability of making further arrangements for slow traffic ?
(9) As to suggesting more stringent police regulations, so as to prevent serious hindrances to vehicular traffic, occasioned by prolonged and unnecessary stoppage of vehicles at the sides of crowded thoroughfares ?
