FACTORY AND WORKSHOPS ACT.
During the year 50 workshops have been added to the register, which
brings the number of workshops registered up to 252.
The principal industries are :—Laundries, tailors, brush, box, boot,
sack, tie, and artificial flower makers. There are no fur pullers' domestic
workshops registered.
The workshops have been under the supervision of the Female Sanitary
Inspectors and myself. 232 inspections have been made and 280
revisits, 27 workshops measured, 33 cleansed, 7 new w.c.'s provided, and
34 miscellaneous repairs executed.

RECEPTION HOUSE.
The number of families admitted to the Reception House during the
year was 108, numbering altogether 406 persons, being an increase of 7
and 48, respectively, on the numbers admitted in 1899.
