Of the 293 cases notified 287, or 97.9 per cent., were removed to
hospital with 29 deaths, a mortality of 10.1 per cent., whilst in the 6
cases treated at home there was 1 death, a mortality of 16.7 per cent.
The Wards most affected were Christchurch, St. Michael, and St.
Mary, in the order named.
ENTERIC FEVER.
The deaths from Enteric Fever during the year numbered 5, as
against 7, 6 and 7, in the three preceding years.
The total number of cases notified was 45 for the present year, and
54, 35 and 48 for the three preceding years.
The percentage of deaths to the total number of cases notified was
11.1.
The annual mortality per 1,000 living was 0.02.
