BIRTHS.
The number of Births registered in the Borough during 1911 was
5,408, of which 2,680 were males, and 2,728 females. This represents a
birth-rate of 28.2 per 1,000 inhabitants.
The number of births registered, belonging to the individual parishes
was as follows:—Newington, 3,239; St. George the Martyr, 1,647;
Christchurch and St. Saviour's, 522.
In addition to these 5,408 births registered in the Borough I learn
from the Registrar General that there were 284 births during the year in
various lying-in and other institutions outside the Borough belonging to
