Note.—Miss Nicholas made 1203 of the above visits; Mr. Rugg also made 516 visits to Small-pox
contacts which are included in the above total of 7030.
*"Other Work" includes visits made for the purpose of urging re-vaccination during the Small-pox
epidemic and also a number of inquiries made at the homes of children to ascertain the cause of absence
from school.
In addition to visits made by Sanitary Inspectors in relation to Infectious Diseases as set out in the above table,
Mr. Powell, the Superintendent of the Reception House, was engaged in visiting "Contacts," and in arranging
for the removal of all patients to Hospital. This work, which was of a very arduous nature, occupied the
greater part of each day, whilst the remainder of his time was taken up in attending to the requirements of the
Reception House.
