5. Preservatives in Food.
There was no contravention of the Preservatives in Food Regulations
in relation to the samples submitted for analysis.
6. Ice Cream.
Number of premises on the register at the end of 1951:—
Manufacture and sale of ice cream 31
Sale and storage of ice cream 131
During the year 146 inspections were made and conditions found
to be satisfactory.
34 samples of ice cream were submitted to the Methylene Blue
Test and were graded as follows:—
Grade 1—22; Grade 2—10; Grade 3—2.
In addition 42 samples were examined under the Food Standards
(Ice Cream) Order, 1951, one sample being found to be below the
standard.
