* These were reported "Negative case," "Not notifiable," etc.
In addition, there were 30 cases reported as Bacteriological Diphtheria.
These have been included as cases of Diphtheria.
Influenza.
During the early part of the year the Borough suffered from a minor
epidemic of influenza and 18 deaths were certified as being due to influenzal
conditions; 12 of these occurred in the first quarter.
Leaflets drawing attention to the need for seeking medical advice in
the early stages of the disease and to the steps which should be taken to
prevent the spread of infection were distributed at the Maternity and
Child Welfare Clinics, and at the schools through the agency of the
London County Council Education Authority.
