Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1928.
In 1928 the Council appointed the Medical Officer of Health and the
two Meat and Food Inspectors as the officers for the enforcement of the
provisions of the Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1928.
Report of the Public A nalyst.
During the year 1931, 801 samples were examined under the Food
and Drugs (Adulteration) Act.
145 of these were purchased informally, and all were submitted by
the Inspectors.
61 samples were found to be adulterated. In addition, 53 other
samples were of inferior quality or doubtful purity.
The rate of adulteration for the past 10 years was as follows:—
