Cleansing was found to be necessary on 158 occasions, and 5 other
nuisances were found. The cleansings were carried out and the nuisances
abated after service of 162 intimations, followed in 9 instances by
statutory notices and 1 final notice.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
There are 7 slaughterhouses licensed by the London County Council.

Inspectors, pages 71 and 73.
SLAUGHTERER OF POULTRY.
The business of a slaughterer of poultry is carried on at two premises
in the Borough under licence of the London County Council.
COFFEE SHOPS, EATING HOUSES, FRIED FISH
SHOPS, HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS, ETC.
London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1908.—Sanitary
Provisions for Premises Used for Sale, etc., of Food for
Human Consumption.
The number of premises in the Borough where food is sold or prepared
for sale is 792; see Table A, page 36.
1,986 visits were paid to these premises during the year, and the
Sanitary Regulations made under the London County Council (General
Powers) Act, 1908, Section 8, were enforced.
Want of cleanliness was found in 392 instances, and 28 other defects
existed.
408 intimations were served, and in 25 cases were followed up by
statutory notices, and 4 final notices.
It was not necessary to take legal proceedings to secure compliance
with the terms of the notices, as the necessary work was carried out.
