No sanitary district was immune, although Bow West District
suffered least, the chief centres of infection being Bromley North, Bromley
Central, West Combined and Bow East Districts. The number of cases
in each Sanitary District was as follows:—

In Table II it will be seen that of the 628 cases no less than 537 were
unvaccinated, and that in this group nearly 95 per cent. of the cases
occurred before the age of 35; whereas in the vaccinated group, almost all
the cases occurred after the age of 35. The vaccinated cases were vaccinated
once only—in infancy—except one patient who was stated to have been
re-vaccinated during the South African War, 1899-1901.
