J Of the 453 samples of milk, 102 samples were procured on Sundays
from itinerant vendors and 99 from itinerant vendors on weekdays.
All the samples from itinerant vendors were in accordance with the
standard and no legal proceedings were instituted.
Samples were taken on delivery, viz., 10 Poplar Institution,
4 St. Andrew's Hospital, 2 at Railway Stations, and 2 at the canteen
of a firm in the Borough. All the samples were genuine except one
taken at the Poplar Institution. The Guardians were communicated
with in regard to the samples procured at the Poplar Institution, and
the Managers of St. Andrew's Hospital were informed of the results of
analyses of samples taken at their institution.
In a large number of cases the Public Analyst reported samples of
milk to be genuine but " Poor in solids," Poor in fat," " Fair
quality," " Very poor quality," etc.
