3,722 children (1,784 boys and 1,938 girls) belonging to the Borough
and 583 children (275 boys and 308 girls) outside the Borough were
bathed and their clothes disinfested.
Miss Tattersall made 116 visits in connection with verminous
school children—13 Poplar, 30 Bromley, and 73 Bow.

Itch Cases.
The itch cases treated at the cleansing station are included in the
verminous cases above.
Miss Tattersall made 418 visits in connection with children suffering
from itch—138 Poplar, 153 Bromley, and 127 Bow.
CLEANSING OF PERSONS ACT, 1897.
During the year 174 persons (114 men and 60 women) (including
35 from Common Lodging Houses—see below) had applied for baths
and for their clothes to be disinfested. Since the notices were posted
throughout the Borough, a total of 6,279 persons, exclusive of nonresidents,
had applied for baths, etc., as mentioned above.

from Common Lodging Houses.
The following number of persons from Common Lodging Houses
within and without the Borough of Poplar were cleansed at the Council's
