The usual rates for the sex-age groups of the population of the Borough have been
calculated, and are presented in Table 9. It is felt, however, that not much reliance can be
placed on the rates, and they are included in the report more for continuity's sake than for
any deduction which can be drawn from them.

For comparison between the nett rates of the Borough, the Metropolis, and the Districts
circumjacent to the Borough, the figures published by the Registrar-General have been used.
(See I able 10). At the present moment only the "All Causes" rates will be dealt with,
those in the other columns being reserved for consideration when the diseases are under
review. The highest rate (All Causes) recorded last year was that of Marylebone (12.78)
which was 1.04 above that of the Borough, and the lowest, that of Hampstead (8.59) which
