With reference to the special report of lighting standards as required by the Ministry of Labour L.A. Circular 9. Supplement No. 1, 127 visits were made under the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act during the last three months of 1965, made up as follows:

1. The standard of lighting was considered to be satisfactory in all cases
and it was not necessary to serve notices under Sec. 8 (1) of the Act.
2. No examples of unsatisfactory lighting can be given.
3. No specific standard of lighting, in terms of lumens has been recommended.
4. No instance of excessive glare has been reported.
The number of inspections to premises will be increased during 1966 with the
greater deployment of the public health inspectors and technical assistants on to
this work in order to complete the general survey of premises as soon as possible.
The following statistical information has been passed to the Ministry of Labour
under provisions contained in the Act.
