Adulteration of food
The number of samples taken during the year under the Food and
Drugs Act was 827, of which 123 were formal samples and 704 informal.
After examination the public analyst reported that 8 of the formal
samples and 7 of the informal samples were adulterated or below
standard; the percentage of adulteration amounted to 6.50 in the formal
samples, 0.99 in the informal samples and 1.81 of all the samples
submitted, compared with 3.07 in the previous year.
