Grading for icecream
It will be seen from table 19 that icecream is divided into four
grades as a result of examination. In brief, grades I and" II are
satisfactory hygienically, while grades III and IV are doubtful or bad,
necessitating review of the conditions of manufacture, handling, storage
or sale. Tracing the mode of contamination may be easy or difficult,
and the food inspectors give what help they can to the manufacturer or
retailer. The person from whom the sample is taken is notified by me
if the sample is in grades II, III or IV, and general advice is given.
Clean food campaign
A campaign was held during the spring and summer which sought
by means of lectures and demonstrations to promote and encourage the
proper handling of foodstuffs in shops in order to minimise the dangers
of food and drink infections.
