X-RAY DEP^RTmENT
The X-ray apparatus was installed in 1945, and consists of a large
4 valve set by Deans of Croydon with two X-ray tubes and facilities for
tomograph - the latter being a device for taking special films to display
doubtful tuberculous cavities.
During 1946, the total number of X-rays taken was 6,142. Of these
1407 were taken in the first quarter, 1439 in the second quarter. 1596 in
the third quarter and 1700 in the last quarter of the year, showing a
progressive increase in the scope of the work. These were mostly chest
films either as a diagnostic measure in new cases or as a follow-up of
established cases of tuberculosis.'
