SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
Refuse Removal and Disposal.
The collection of house and trade refuse is carried out by the
Borough Engineer's Department, a weekly collection being the rule.
The tonnage collected in 1937 is shown below.

The refuse is disposed of at the Council's Destructors situated
at Molesworth Street, Lewisham, and Home Park, Sydenham, from
a contractor's wharf by barge or deposited on shoots in the Borough.

The figures for disposal include trade refuse delivered by tradesmen
to the Council's dust destructors, and refuse collected from the
