The progress of the epidemic, week by week, from beginning
to end, is shown in Table III.
These figures show the explosive nature of the outbreak,
rapidly reaching its height in the week ending 12th October, and
its gradual fall. It can also be inferred, taking into consideration
the period of incubation of the disease, that infection
occurred some time in the weeks ending 7th and 14th September.
Table IV gives the age and sex of each of the 102 notified
cases.
