New Houses.

The following newly-erected dwelling-houses were passed for occupation during the year:—

Rent Restriction Acts, 1920 and 1923.
During the year 34 applications were made by occupiers
for the certificate of the Sanitary Authority under the provisions
of the above Acts, and in each case the Council authorised the
issue of the certificate. A report cf the Sanitary Authority to
the effect that the necessary work had been carried out and the
premises placed in a reasonable state of repair, was issued to
the owner in 10 instances.
Municipal Housing Schetne.
Under the Housing Act, 1919, the Council provided 86
houses on Lewisham Park Estate and 119 flats by the conversion
of 36 large houses.
Under the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1924, the
Council have developed a site consisting of 43 acres at Chinbrook
Road, Grove Park, where there have been provided:—
336 "A" type houses, containing living room, three bedrooms,
scullery, bathroom, etc., let at inclusive rentals
of 18s. Od. a week (Net weekly rental 13s. 6d.).
136 "B" type houses, containing living room, parlour,
three bedrooms, scullery, bathroom, etc., let at inclusive
rentals of 21s. Od. a week (Net weekly rental
15s. 10d.).
32 Flats, containing living room, two bedrooms, scullery,
bathroom, etc., let at inclusive rentals of 14s. 4d.
a week (Net weekly rental lis. Od.).
In connection with this scheme, approximately 8 acres have
been reserved for the purpose of Allotments and Children's
Recreation Ground.
