carries out the duties of inspecting factories, workshops, bakehouses,
and dairies, and is the principal sampling officer under
the Food and Drugs Acts. In the latter capacity he is assisted
by the two house-to-house Inspectors.
The female Inspector is responsible for the inspection of
factories, workshops, laundries and outworkers' premises where
female labour is employed. She also investigates cases of
encephalitis lethargica, pneumonia, and infectious diseases
reported from schools, and conducts special enquiries when
required.
