St. Margaret's Road ; Nos. 145 to 151, Algernon Road; No. 36,
Cressingham Road ; Nos. 69 to 71, Wells Road; Nos. 74 and 76,
Albacore Crescent; and Nos. 71 to 89 Ennersdale Road.
SMOKE NUISANCES.
The Inspector entrusted with the duty of keeping
observation for the emission of black smoke, made 65 investigations
during the year. The details of his observations are
as follows:—laundries 34, silk mills 2, preserve works 12, flour
mills 2, saw mills 4, bakehouses 4, miscellaneous premises 7.
The duration of the observations varied from 2 hours
to 4 hours each. In consequence of offences observed
7 intimation notices were served.
DISINFECTION.
During the year disinfection was carried out at 1,758
houses or premises in the Borough, a total of 4,245 rooms being
sprayed. The number of articles removed to the Council's
Station for disinfection, either by steam or the formalin process,
was 52,264.
