INFANTILE MORTALITY
One hundred and forty nine infants died before reaching 1 year of age, 4 less
than in 1966. Due, however, to the reduction in the total number of live births the
infantile mortality rate rose to 21.9 per 1,000 live births compared with 20.8 last
year.

The causes of death fell into the undermentioned categories:-

DEATHS FROM CANCER OF THE LUNG AND BRONCHUS
There was a reduction in the number of deaths from cancer of the lung and
bronchus, 267 occurring compared with 282 in 1966.
