Water Supply
I am indebted to Dr. E. Windle Taylor, Director of Water Examination,
Metropolitan Water Board for the following report on the water supplied to the
Borough.
The supply to the Borough of Lambeth has been satisfactory both for quality
and quantity during the year 1965. The main source of supply is River Thames
derived water with a small admixture occasionally of water from Honor Oak Well.
The population supplied by the Board in the Borough of Lambeth is 339,536,
the supply being direct to the houses in every case, none being supplied by means
of a standpipe. No new sources of supply were instituted in the area during 1965,
nor was there any change in the general scheme of supply, but trunk mains were
extended 742 yards. The total distance of new service mains laid in the Borough
of Lambeth by the Board during 1965 was 1,191 yards.
