SECTION C
GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES
FOR THE AREA
Care of the Aged
The work in connection with the care of the aged continued to increase,
in fact it reached a point where it could no longer be covered adequately by
the one woman public health visitor employed by the department
Having regard to this the Council approved a proposal to appoint an
additional visitor, the Officer to be a state registered nurse. It is hoped
that this appointment will be made early in the new year.
The number of visits made by the Public Health Visitor increased by
401, 3,500 being made compared with 3,099 last year.
During the year 553 new cases were brought to the notice of the Public
Health Department, an increase of 27 over the number of new cases for 1961.
These cases were split up into the following age groups.
