HEALTH EDUCATION ADVISORY PANEL
The Panel continued to meet to discuss the furtherance of health education and during the year projects and campaigns on the following topics were presented:-

HEALTH VISITOR STUDENTS TRAINING
Many student health visitors from the North Western Polytechnic were advised in the
preparation of health education material and also in the content and method of health
education techniques.
IN SERVICE TRAINING,
Student public health inspectors also received advice and practical training in health
education as part of their examination course.
ST. MARK' S HOSPITAL
The Health Education Officer was invited to take part in a study day for senior nursing
staff at St. Mark's hospital where he presented a paper on "Drug dependence in today's
society."
CHURCHES AND YOUTH ORGANISATIONS
Liaison is maintained with church groups on various health aspects particularly in the
home safety field. The Health Education Officer acted as examiner for the Duke of Edinburgh's
Award Scheme during the year.
OIL HEATERS
One of the perenial problems which had to be dealt with by the health education service
was the education of the public in the safe use of oil heaters, and to this end a number of
displays were presented in various parts of the borough and a continuous appeal to the public
to make themselves conscious of potential danger was made.
