VACCINATION.
Of the 5,357 births registered in 1926, the returns of vaccination shows that
only 2,631 infants were successfully vaccinated, while 13 were found to be
insusceptible. There were also 256 who died unvaccinated, and 1,896 statutory
declarations of conscientious objection to vaccination were obtained by the parents
or guardians; 30 vaccinations were postponed under medical authority, 231 were
removed to other districts or place unknown, thus leaving 300 unaccounted for.
The return of certificates of exemption, therefore, represents 35 per cent, of the
registered births.
