It will be seen from the above that the facilities for the storage of food were
most unsatisfactory. In 246 (or 23 per cent.) no food storage accommodation was
provided, whilst in 442 tenements (over 41 per cent), the only accommodation was
unventilated cupboards. The absence of suitable storage accommodation for food
is one of the commonest insanitary faults resulting from the letting for tenement
purposes of houses not built for such occupation.
