88
surveys (with attention to special groups in each category) were
carried out in the Borough during the year by the South East
London Mass Radiography Unit. Dr. J. M. Morgan, the Director
of this Unit to whom I am indebted for the following analysis of the
results, observes that "three cases of tuberculosis were found
among men and two women which, even in this day and age, is
a remarkably low figure.
Eight cases of bronchial carcinoma is an average finding for
this disorder and it is notable that the figure for women continues
to rise. Of these eight cases only two were operated on successfully
and all three women were considered to be inoperable."
