Co-operation with Hospital Departments
By attending the paediatric clinics at the Memorial and Greenwich
District Hospitals, health visitors continue to support families
with a handicapped pre-school child and by virtue of the practice
of attending the ante-natal and diabetic clinics at the District
Hospital they are enabled to exert an influence for good on the
family in general.
Problem Family Index
In 1970, 155 families with profound problems of emotional,
intellectual or financial deprivation were continuously supported
and health visitors assisted mothers in the task of caring for 261
children under the age of 5 years in this group.
Health Visitor Training
Health Visitor training continues under the agreed revised rules
submitted to the Council for the training of Health Visitors to the
Minister in 1965 in accordance with Section 2 of the Health
Visiting and Social Work (Training) Act, 1962.
Fifteen student health visitors received their field experience in
the Borough in 1970 and, in June, the nine students sponsored
