General Provisions of Health Services.
Staff.—Dr. Charles Porter, the Acting Medical Officer of
Health since January 1943, during the absence on Active Service
of Dr. Waldron, relinquished his appointment in October 1945.
Pending the appointment of Dr. Howard in November, the duties
were fulfilled by Dr. M. Macdonald, Acting Tuberculosis Officer.
Mr. W. R. Drake, District Sanitary Inspector since 1920,
retired on health grounds in January 1946, and Miss Jenkins,
Health Visitor since 1925, retired on reaching the age limit in
November. Both these officers gave faithful and loyal service.
Home Nursing.—Cases attending the various centres who
are found to be in such a condition as to require special nursing at
home, are referred either to the " Ranyard Mission " or the "Queen's
District Nursing Association."

Bacteriological Examinations.—The undermentioned specimens were submitted to the Seamen's Hospital Laboratory for bacteriological investigation, the results being:—

Health Visitors.—The following tables show (A) the number of visits made by the Health Visitors during the year in connection with Births and cases of Infectious Diseases, and (B) number of Infant Consultations and Ante-Natal Clinics attended and miscellaneous visits:— Health Visitors' Visits, &c.. 1945.
