The deaths due to respiratory tuberculosis in Deptford in 1954 were
12 males and 8 females as compared with 19 and 6 respectively during the
previous year. Of the deaths from respiratory tuberculosis 8 of the 12
male deaths and 6 of the 8 female deaths were of persons between the
ages of 15 and 65 years, whereas the deaths from all causes, only about
28% were within this age group.

during the year, at the request of private Doctors, for an opinion on the
chest condition. You will be aware of the increase in the number of cases
