In consequence of the prevalence of smallpox in the early part of the
year, two temporary sanitary inspectors were appointed. Mr. F. C. Sharpe
was transferred from the office to fill one of these posts and a temporary clerk
was appointed in his place. It was found possible to dispense with the services
of one temporary inspector in August, but owing to illness among the staff, etc.,
Mr. Sharpe's appointment has been continued.
