but misleading descriptions were better employed in
improving the nutritive value of the contents. Definite
standards of composition have been laid down with
regard to milk and cream, and these standards facilitate
the enforcement of the law. it is to be regretted that
legal standards have not been prescribed for a large
number of other foods in common use. The food codes
which operate in several of the Australian States are
far in advance of our own, in their protection of the
public against inferior or adulterated food.
